Paraguay adopts ISDB-T as the standard of the terrestrial digital TV

On Tuesday, June 1, 2010, in the consideration of the recommendation of the National Telecommunications Commission (Conatel), the Executive branch in Paraguay issued a decree, which declared the adoption of ISDB-T as the standard for broadcasting service of digital terrestrial TV.

The purpose of the transition to the digital system is to offer viewers with images without degradation, noise, intermodulation, or ghosts, in addition to replacing conventional analog services.

The broadcasting of television signals in digital format is now a reality in the world (Brazil, Peru and Argentina, in South America).

The Executive branch instructs the Conatel perform the analysis of technical and regulatory issues involved. This will allow the Paraguay government's decision to emphasize the mutual partnerships with members of the Southern Common Market and other administrations of the countries of the region, becoming a top-level technological advancement.

Paraguay is the eighth country which has adopted ISDB-T as the standard of the digital terrestrial TV outside Japan.
