Oriental Republic of Uruguay adopts ISDB-T as the standard of the Terrestrial Digital TV

On December 27, 2010, local time, Oriental Republic of Uruguay decided to adopt ISDB-T as the national standard of the terrestrial digital TV.

Oriental Republic of Uruguay is the 11th country outside Japan to select ISDB-T, following Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Paraguay, the Philippines, and Bolivia.

Although Government of Uruguay once decided and announced the adoption of DVB-T in August, 2007, administration of President Mujica has been reexamining of the standard since March, 2010, considering that the ISDB-T is adopted among the South American countries.
