CAPER is the biggest annual event for the equipment manufacturers for CATV, broadcasting, cinema and multimedia in Argentine. DiBEG was invited to the conference for the terrestrial digital TV, which is chaired by Mr. Jos·Simonetta, representative of the Argentinean Association of Engineers –CAI– and COPITEC, on Wednesday, 29 October. The purpose of the conference is to clarify the characteristics of the typical three standards for the terrestrial digital TV (ATSC, DVB-T and ISDB-T) for the audience in CAPER.
In the cooperation with Forum SBTVD, DiBEG took part in the conference and explained various technical advantage of the ISDB-T among other standards. Since Argentina government is about to determine the standard for the terrestrial digital TV soon, a lot of attentions were paid to the explanation by the speakers from Japan and Brazil.
The demonstration of the ISDB-T was held five times in the afternoon on Friday, 31 October. Each demonstration averagely took 45 minutes and composed of the brief explanation and the actual experience of the system. The participants were impressed with the new technologies which are performed in the demonstration. The participants were not only Argentina but also those came from the neighboring counties.

The Conference Outline
he whole conference divided in four sections: the first three ones would be for ATSC, ISDB-T and DVB-T (the order will be assigned by raffle). The representative of the three standards is to explain the technological characteristics, including the main advances from the last year, taking into account that the similar conference was organized last year.
As the representative of the ISDB-T, Dr. Osamu Yamada, Pioneer, Mr. Masayuki Takada, NHK science and technical research laboratories and Mr. OlúŠpio Jos·Franco, Forum SBTVD in Brazil made the presentation and responded to the questions from the audience.
In the presentation, the technical advantage such as the robustness of the transmission, flexible configuration, economical service provision for the mobile terminal are empathized. Most of the audience are much interested in the development of the ISDB-T service in Brazil.
Finally, Mr. Jos·Simonetta, representative of the Argentinean Association of Engineers –CAI– and COPITEC, summarized the presentation by each representative and closed the conference.

ISDB-T Demonstration
Demonstration of ISDB-T was held in the same room as the conference. In the exhibition, first the participants are explained what kind of service was brought by the realization of the terrestrial digital TV and what advantage the ISDB-T had. Then the HDTV program and mobile TV service called One-Seg are shown in flat displays and One-Seg receivers such as cellular phones, portable audio terminals.
The demonstration system consisted of the indoor transmitter and several receiving systems. The played HDTV pregame was “Yokoso Japan” which shown the beauty of the Japanese tradition.

The participants were impressed with the new technologies which are performed in the demonstration. The participants were not only Argentina but also those came from the neighboring counties.
